Advanced Archery in Auckland, New Zealand, is seeking a bow technician/sales assistant to run its archery pro shop, and help with retail sales and customer service.

Candidates should have pro-shop experience and be active bowhunters. They must also have good communication skills, and be able to multitask and learn new processes and procedures.

Advanced Archery is owned and operated by a husband-and-wife team, Kevin and Carol Watson. The store supplies archery equipment to target archers and bowhunters throughout New Zealand, and provides repair and maintenance services for all bow types and brands.

This is a full-time job, and the employee must relocate to the country and work 40 hours a week under a work visa. The job provides four weeks of paid vacation, and many opportunities to hunt.

“We’re looking for someone with a passion for archery who is willing to help our company grow,” Carol Watson said. “Advanced Archery is constantly trying to improve what we do, and we want our staff to be a part of it and contribute to that process.”

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Repair, maintenance, tuning and setup work on all archery equipment;
  • Regular evaluations of workplace processes and procedures to ensure efficiency;
  • Respond to customer inquiries, and provide proficient feedback and service;
  • Process sales orders, purchase-order requests, and deliveries.

“This is a great opportunity for someone to have a New Zealand adventure and be immediately connected with archers from all over the country,” Carol Watson said.

The Watsons expect to fill the position in February. To ease the transition, they’re willing to board one person a few weeks until arranging other accommodations, such as “flatting,” which means sharing accommodations.
