Increasing participation in archery is a main tenet of ATA’s mission statement. More participation in the sport means more customers, more sales, and ultimately a stronger industry. Here are just a few ways ATA is accomplishing this mission that you might not be aware of.
Just recently, ATA and NASP® announced the result of a joint project to educate retailers on NASP® rules and equipment standards, so they can better support student archers, their parents and their coaches. The second phase of this new Friends of NASP® program connects ATA member retailers with their local NASP® community, providing examples of how other retailers are generating new revenue streams from their relationship with NASP® archers.
Keeping today’s youth archers engaged helps guarantee a healthy customer base as these archers expand their archery experience into bowhunting, recreational shooting and competition.
We also just announced the addition of the S3DA Indoor Open during ATA Show Week. This tournament will coincide with the Archery & Bowhunting Supershow, giving young archers and their families a chance to see more archery and bowhunting equipment than ever before in one place—and a great opportunity to plan for future purchases.
ATA has also seen success opening new markets in the U.S. and internationally. Here at home, ATA recently testified on behalf of Florida bowhunters and worked with the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission on language that would include archery in Florida’s new black bear season opening this Fall.
Internationally, ATA has supported the work of the European Bowhunting Federation for many years, which recently resulted in the opening of bowhunting in Belgium, the Netherlands and Luxembourg. This welcome announcement follows the approval of bowhunting for large deer species in Denmark in 2024. Each of these wins expands markets for ATA members.
Of course, in the U.S., ATA continues to work with legislators on Capitol Hill to close the FET advantage many foreign companies have over U.S. companies. We expect to see passage of our bill by year end. Closing this loophole will level the playing field for U.S. companies, which should be a positive to their bottom line.
So, where do your membership dues and Trade Show revenue go? Directly into this kind of work. The strength and effectiveness of the ATA comes from your support. You are the ATA. Together, we are working to build a stronger, healthier future for the archery industry.
