More Than a Place to Shoot: Understanding Centershot BLUE Outposts

What can your archery shop do to help veterans and first responders feel seen, supported and connected? Centershot BLUE Outposts offer one answer.

Our heroes walk among us. Some carry scars we can see. Others carry scars we cannot.

For veterans and first responders, finding a place where they feel understood, supported and connected can make a difference. Centershot BLUE is a nonprofit that uses archery to create that connection.

Through Centershot BLUE Outposts, archery shops, ranges and other community partners can provide a place for veterans, first responders and their families to gather, shoot and connect with others who understand their experiences. An Outpost can become a regular place for connection, not just a one-time event.

For an archery retailer, an Outpost can be as simple or as structured as the local community needs. A shop might open an hour early or stay open after hours once a month. It could offer range time, provide a place to gather or simply open its doors to people looking for connection.

“We’re already a place where people come to connect through archery,” Triple B’s Old 45 Archery said. “Creating a space for veterans and first responders to spend time with people who understand them just makes sense. It doesn’t have to be a big event. Sometimes, simply opening the door and giving someone a place to belong is what matters.”

And that is the opportunity: creating a place where people can connect through archery, one small gathering at a time.

Your shop can be more than a place to buy equipment or shoot a round. It can be a trusted place in your community where people learn, connect, find support and build relationships through archery.

Centershot BLUE brings the program and connection to the veteran and first responder communities. Retailers bring what they already have: an archery shop, a range and a place where people can gather.

There is no one-size-fits-all approach. Start where your shop is, with what you have and the people you already serve. A small commitment can create a meaningful place for someone who may need it.

This is one way ATA helps connect the dots for our members. We bring people and organizations together, share opportunities and help retailers find new ways to strengthen their role in the communities they serve.

Curious what an Outpost could look like at your shop? Connect with Centershot BLUE at the 2027 ATA Trade Show, January 7- 8, 2027, start the conversation and explore what might work in your community.
