For anyone running an independent business, it can sometimes feel like the odds are against you. With limited resources, you’re still competing with much larger organizations. Wouldn’t it be nice if you had a group of advisors who could give some fresh insights and new ideas that could help you grow your business, build customer confidence, and be more profitable? And wouldn’t it be even better if you could talk to them in person instead of sitting on yet another video call? It might sound too good to be true, but what I’m describing is exactly what you get by attending free educational sessions at the 2025 ATA Show. There you’ll have a unique opportunity to learn tips and tricks from archery gurus to legal minds to industry leaders and other advisors you won’t find anywhere else.

Learn about bowstrings with GAS Bowstrings' seminar. Photo Credit: GAS Bowstrings
When I go into a pro shop during the late summer and early fall months and ask what’s been keeping them busy, I can almost guarantee that string and cable replacements are going to be the top answer. With bow strings and cables being such an integral part of the equipment equation and a major revenue generator, there’s a huge benefit to being able to give customers an in-depth explanation of bowstring materials and what separates a high-quality set from the rest. With decades of experience to draw from, the GAS bowstrings team will be going beyond marketing jargon and getting into the detailed information that pro shops need to truly be the bowstring experts in their community. This will be an interactive session, so come with your list of questions to make sure you go home with all the answers you need for a successful year of bowstring sales and installs.
For many ATA members, hunting seasons are the main business driver. And of all the hunting seasons, whitetail deer hunting reigns supreme in most parts of the country. But how can an archery business encourage bowhunters to get out in the deer woods more often and capitalize on whitetail hunting outside of the hunting seasons? Presenter Casey Christman will lead this Coffee Talk discussion to answer that question as he lays out everything that he does to plan, prepare, and hunt deer from January through December each year.
Steven Shipe of Barnes and Thornburg LLP will discuss intellectual property laws. Photo Credit: ATA
Archery manufacturers spend an enormous amount of time and resources developing products that will improve the archery experience for their customers, and filing for patents is a necessary step to protect this intellectual property. But the work doesn’t stop there. When an infringement happens, it’s decision-making time! And knowing how to make the right decision for your business may not be as straightforward as you think. By using real-world examples and providing several options for taking action, Steven will give business owners insights into best practices for handling infringements for single products or multi-product lines.
