Jeff Poole was elected president and CEO by the Board of Directors in January 2022. Prior to joining the ATA, he spent 30 years with the National Rifle Association. Starting in a near entry level position, Poole rose through the organization to a variety of leadership positions in the areas of membership, shows and events, and e-commerce.
Poole’s primary focus is growing and sustaining participation levels in archery and bowhunting by working with the Board, staff, industry leaders and other archery organizations to leverage best practices and coordinate efforts to grow the sport.
Additionally, his priorities include expanding business opportunities for ATA retailer and manufacturer members by delivering impactful programs and services that will increase their customer base, provide data they can use to make important decisions, and educational resources to help develop and manage their businesses.
Poole believes delivering programs that drive outstanding member value, a strong and vibrant trade show, and protecting archery and bowhunting interests on the legislative front are foundational to the work of the ATA.
Poole worked as a carpenter while in college to partly finance his bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Bridgewater College in Virginia. His career began in the construction industry before moving on to the NRA.
As a lifelong hunter and outdoorsman, Poole is passionate about chasing whitetails in his native Virginia where he lives with his wife, Linda, and lab, Remington. He enjoys time spent afield with his two adult sons Austin and Tyler, watching college football, playing golf, bass fishing and slinging arrows.
