The 2021 ATA Trade Show, archery and bowhunting’s largest and most-inclusive Show, takes place Jan. 7-9 in Indianapolis. The Show is a members-only event that gives industry professionals a look at new products and the latest archery and bowhunting trends. It’s a must-attend event for press and media hoping to grow their following and promote archery and bowhunting.

Press registration opens on Sept. 22. Here are six things you need to know to register for and attend the 2021 Show.

1. Press badges are different than media member badges.

If you wish to attend the Show to provide event coverage through film, print, radio or digital media, you’re considered press. Press attendees aren’t ATA members. They attend as journalists to cover Show happenings. Press cannot solicit exhibitors. If you’re confident you’re press, skip to No. 2.

On the contrary, if you’re a corporation or another legal and lawful entity that intends to sell ad space, or to seek partnerships or sponsorships while at the Show, you must apply for an ATA media membership to register for a media sales badge. Media members often help recruit, retain and reactivate archers and bowhunters through blogs, websites, TV shows and other broadcast media.

To join the ATA as a media member, please visit the ATA’s membership page and click “Become a Media Member” near the bottom. You must create an account to complete and submit your application. Media companies must provide a current business license, proof of publication or production, and other verification documents to meet the membership requirements. The annual membership dues for an ATA media member is $600. Media members receive two free Show badges and can buy two additional badges for $50 each.

Please note: Hunting personalities or industry and brand ambassadors who have verified business relationships with more than one of the ATA’s exhibiting companies may qualify for an Industry Ambassador badge. Anyone interested in an Industry Ambassador badge should contact Wendy Lang, ATA’s senior manager of membership, at wendylang@archerytrade.org.

2. Press must provide valid documentation, which will be verified by ATA staff, to attend the Show.

All press-badge applications must be verified and approved by ATA staff. The ATA will only accept a few documents as valid proof of qualification. Click here to read the ATA’s press guidelines and verification procedures. Please review the criteria carefully before submitting your application and applicable documents.

Please note: The ATA approves or denies memberships based on the verification materials you provide and will reject applications that do not meet the criteria. Please submit the necessary documents and information with your application.

If you attended the 2019 or 2020 Show as verified press, you don’t have to be verified again. You can fly through registration on Sept. 22 without resubmitting proof of your work.

3. Understand the press badge costs.

Verified press attendees who aren’t ATA members will be charged $150 unless they’re an active member of one of the following groups, in which case the press-badge fee will be waived upon the application’s approval:

- Association of Great Lakes Outdoor Writers– Voting members
- Hoosier Outdoor Writers– Active members
- Outdoor Writers Association of America– Individual active members
- Professional Outdoor Media Association – Voting media members
- Southeastern Outdoor Press Association– Individual active members

4. Register early. On-site registration is not available.

To cover the Show, you must register by Dec. 18, 2020, at 5 p.m. CST. If you do not register by Dec. 18, you cannot attend the ATA Trade Show.

5. Press will not be allowed on the Show Floor on Buyer Day (Jan. 7).

Buyer Day, which is Jan. 7, the first day of the Show, restricts the Show floor to verified buyers and exhibitors. Buyer Day ensures buyers and manufacturers can focus on order writing, business planning, and new product evaluations the first 9½ hours of the three-day Show. All verified Show attendees, including press, can hit the floor Jan. 8-9. The ATA appreciates your cooperation.

6. Press get access to the Press Room at the ATA Show.

Registered press gain access to the Show’s press room, which is equipped with copiers, printers, scanners and more to make covering the Show a breeze. The space can also be used to hold meetings, check email, or spend quiet time writing, editing videos and publishing the day’s coverage. The press room at the ATA Show will be Room 141.

Get Registered!

Mark your calendar. Press registration opens on Sept. 22.

To register, visit the ATA’s press page and click the link at the top of the page to request a badge and submit your documentation. Remember, if you were verified as press for the 2019 or 2020 Show, you don’t have to resubmit new verification documents.

Please allow seven business days for your badge request to be verified and approved. Once approved, you’ll receive a confirmation and an express pass through the email address you provided. This confirmation includes a hotel access code for reserving rooms in the ATA hotel block.

If you have questions or concerns regarding press verification, please contact Wendy Lang, ATA’s senior manager of membership, at wendylang@archerytrade.org or (507) 233-8134.
