The ATA Trade Show is the archery industry’s biggest, most exclusive Show. So, it’s no wonder the ATA Show is at the center of numerous conversations this time of year — but is everything people say about the Show true? We’re here to debunk myths and set the facts straight about the upcoming Show in Indianapolis, Jan. 11-13.

Fact or Myth: Anyone can attend the ATA Trade Show, even consumers.

MYTH! ATA members constantly hear rumors about the ATA Show being open to consumers. Those rumors are false. The ATA Trade Show is a business-to-business event and is closed to the public. Only ATA members can attend, and all ATA members must have a business focused on archery and bowhunting. ATA-member businesses include archery and/or bowhunting retailers, manufacturers, distributors, nonprofits, ranges, guides, media companies and government entities like state fish and wildlife agencies. This rule helps industry members focus on industry growth and business transactions while attending the Show.

Fact or Myth: ATA is bringing back the Official Show Guide this year.

FACT! The ATA is printing an Official Show Guide for #ATA2023. The guide will include important Show information, an exhibitor list and the schedule of events, as well as features on new products unveiled in Indianapolis. Attendees can pick up a copy at a Show entrance, as it will not be mailed to buyers this year. Because the Official 2023 ATA Show Guide will feature new products launched at the Show, a modified Show Guide will be sent to the entire Deer & Deer Hunting magazine subscriber list. Click here if you’re interested in advertising in the Show Guide.

Fact or Myth: Verified attendees don’t need a ticket to attend Outtech Innovations and Connections.

FACT! You need a badge to get on the Show floor, and that badge also gives you access to the Outtech Innovations event on Tuesday, Jan. 10, at 6:30 p.m. and Connections: An ATA Happy Hour on Wednesday, Jan. 11, at 6 p.m. Both events feature food, drinks and entertainment and are free to attend as long as you have your Show badge. However, the Badlands Film Festival on Thursday, Jan. 12, does require a ticket to attend. Those will be available at the Badlands booth #507. To see all the Show events and happenings, see the schedule of events.

Fact or Myth: I must pay for and register to attend all educational events.

MYTH! Most educational events, including morning seminars and Coffee Talks, are free to attend and don’t require registration. Showgoers can expect to receive information on marketing and digital ad strategies, ideas for increasing profitability and using data to reach customers, and more by attending these free educational events. View the Trade Show Education webpage to find the seminar and Coffee Talk schedule.

The webpage also has information on the ATA’s Archery Industry Masterclass, which does require payment and registration. The Masterclass registration fee is $100 for members and $500 for nonmembers. It features presentations on business, coaching, marketing and archery tech from industry experts. All Masterclass sessions are held on Jan. 10, the day before the Show opens. If you have questions about Trade Show education, please contact Kurt Smith, ATA’s director of industry relations, at (507) 233-8138 or kurtsmith@archerytrade.org.

Fact or Myth: The New Product Launch Showcase is the same as the Featured Products Showcase.

MYTH! The 2023 ATA Trade Show is the industry’s first chance to see new products launched for 2023. Those new products are featured in the New Product Launch Showcase so attendees can see everything in one convenient location. The Featured Products Showcase is in a different area of the Show floor and serves as a product preview for attendees. It features products from all exhibitors. Buyers and media members visit this area to view the products without interruption.
